Nestled in the heart of Rowland Heights, Lao Ma Tou Hot Pot is a vibrant culinary destination for those craving the bold, fiery flavors of authentic Sichuan hot pot. This hot pot restaurant masterfully blends tradition with an electrifying dining atmosphere, inviting guests to immerse themselves in a sensory feast where every bite ignites the palate.
The menu is a treasure trove for spice lovers and adventurous eaters alike. Standouts like the Hotpot Blood Tofu and the richly marbled Fatty Beef Belly Slice deliver tender textures that soak up the signature spicy broth, bursting with layers of numbing Sichuan peppercorns and chili heat. For meat aficionados, the options of Kobe Beef Ribeye Slices and Wagyu Beef Slices promise top-tier quality, offering melt-in-your-mouth decadence that justifies their premium price. Don’t miss the addictive Chngdu Fried Rice, its fragrant aroma and satisfying bite complementing the intense flavors of the hot pot.
The accompanying sauce bar is another highlight, featuring homemade blends such as the Garlic and Sesame Oil Sauce and Dried Chili Pepper with Flavor, allowing diners to customize each dip with a touch of their own flair. Light bites like crispy Mozzarella Sticks and golden Tempura add delightful textural contrast, while sweet endings such as the Red Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake (红糖糍粑) bring an authentic finish to the meal.
Lao Ma Tou’s atmosphere pulses with energy — casual yet buzzing with the warmth of shared experiences around bubbling pots of spicy broth. It’s a place where friends and family gather, laughter mingles with the clink of chopsticks, and the fiery fragrance wraps around you like a comforting embrace. Service here is attentive and genuinely warm; one guest fondly recalled how staff went out of their way to pack leftover meats with care, even reheating them for a dog-friendly takeout.
While some note the portions lean on the modest side and prices reflect the premium ingredient selection, the overall dining experience at Lao Ma Tou Hot Pot is one that delights and excites at every turn. From the vibrant spice that tingles your lips and opens your senses, to the welcoming environment perfect for group gatherings, this hot pot haven invites you to come alive through food — embracing the heat, savoring the freshness, and enjoying a feast that lingers in memory long after the last drop of broth.
For those ready to embark on a bold flavor adventure, Lao Ma Tou Hot Pot in Rowland Heights stands as a must-visit destination in Southern California’s vibrant dining landscape.
Taste :4.3/5 Environment: 4.3/5 Service:4.2/5 Lao Mao Tao Hot Pot in City of Industry isn’t for the mild-at-heart. This place is built for people who live for spice — and I mean, real spice. The kind that makes your lips tingle, your eyes water (a little), and your taste buds come alive. The vibe is casual and energetic, with big groups gathered around bubbling pots full of red chili-laced broth. You pick your spice level, but fair warning: even the “medium” packs a punch. If you're a true spice lover, this place will absolutely test your limits — in the best way.
Authentic Sichuan spicy broth base, pretty fresh ingredients but the portions are small compared to other popular hot pot place. The beef slice was too thin
The best service! Because we have puppies, when we are full, there are leftover pieces of meat.We asked the waiter if he could pack it to take away, and he was very enthusiastic to help us cook it with clear water and pack it!Such warm service and delicious food have to be visited frequently!
Came around 7:45 and waited for an hour.. so sat down around 8:49. lots of people here so check in at the iPad when you arrive! You can check your wait time from yelp too! Tried most of their meats and they’re great quality. It is a bit pricey so do prepare to spend on the meats. Their appetizer: rice cake was delicious with the brown sugar on it. Highly recommend! I was a bit shocked by the self service snack bar charge by person. Due to us getting in so late… they close their snack bar right on time of 9:30, so get what you want in the beginning if you get in late because I didn’t end up getting the desserts or snacks at all.. also if your short like me, we can’t reach the snacks on top of the bar area.. hopefully they’ll notice that and lower it for us more petite people. Also parking is a bit hard unless you park all the way in the back. It’s more of an experience here and trying it once. Probably be coming back for the rice cake only..
we love to visit here every time we come to LA! this is the hot pot spot that made us fall in love with hot pot in the first place! they have the best snack and sauce bar!
We’re longtime customers of this restaurant and come here often. We’re very grateful for Jina’s service—her warmth and attentiveness truly impressed us and made our dining experience wonderful. Great food, great flavors, and great service are the reasons we keep coming back. It’s an authentic taste of China, and we highly recommend everyone to come and try it!
A extremely popular hot pot place. The vibes says a lot about this amazing hot pot place. Food is great. The service is incredible. I appreciate the friendly staff very much. Make sure to have the entire group or they won’t seat you.
